Carton House fifth as Cannes-Mougins wins European Men's Club Trophy

AIG Senior Cup winners Carton House finished fifth behind Cannes-Mougins in the 2022 European Men's Club Trophy at Troia Golf in Portugal.

The French were the only club to finish under par for the three rounds, earning the European title for the first time in the club's history.

The win marks a double for French teams in the European Club Trophies this season after RCF La Boulie won the Ladies' European Club Trophy in Slovenia earlier this month with Lahinch 17th.

Led by Tom Vaillant, the leading player on the Alps Tour this year, Canne-Mougins finished on one-under to win by two shots from Smørum Golfklubb of Denmark with Austria’s Murhof Golf Club taking the bronze medals on 13-over. 

Carton House were fifth on 18-over

Vaillant, a French national team player who has formerly helped his country to the European Boys' Team Championship title, finished with the lowest individual total with rounds of 74, 70 and 70 for a total of two under.

Marc Boucher tied for sixth for Carton House on five-over (71, 76, 74) with Darragh Flynn tied 25th on 16-over and Keith Egan tied 35th on 19-over.
