Irish golfers are chomping at the bit to get back to golf and those who live in the Limerick area have another reason to dust off the clubs following the unveiling of a new, state-of-the-art facility - the first TrackMan Range in Ireland — at Ballyneety Driving Range in Co Limerick.

Ballyneety Driving Range has spent the winter improving its facility and is now the first range in Ireland to install pioneering TrackMan Range technology in its 15 covered bays, each of which is fitted with 27-inch touchscreens.

As well as the Trackman Range, the Outdoor Range has been extended and now offers 16 bays, all of which are now fitted with lighting, making them ideal for those evening range sessions

TrackMan technology is trusted globally by the game’s top players, and visitors can now use it to virtually tee up at major championship venues such as the Old Course at St Andrews, or simply enjoy practice sessions and challenge friends in innovative game modes.

The technology precisely measures each shot, giving instant feedback on ball data including speed, carry and total distance, launch angle, launch direction and more.

Information is displayed on an in-bay monitor and via the free mobile app which records all shot data in a player’s profile to review later.

It will cost just €15 for one hour or 100 balls and an online booking system will be in place before the new facility opens on Monday next.

PGA professional Donal McSweeney is thrilled with the new set up and believes it will be a game-changer for golfers in the locality as well as a solid business investment.

“It is extremely exciting for us to be able to offer one of the most advanced technology driving ranges in the world to people in our region,” Donal said. “We would encourage anyone in the local area to come and try the technology. TrackMan Range features a wealth of game modes, and the Tour-proven technology is trusted by 92% of the world’s top 100 players.

“Our vastly upgraded facilities enable us to offer an extraordinary range experience either on the Trackman Range or our outdoor range, no matter a guest’s level of golfing ability.”

Ballyneety Driving Range will open Ireland’s first online booking system for the bays in the next few days, making it easy for all golfers to ensure they can have a bay of their choice, at a time that suits them with the number of balls they like.

All any golfer needs to do is click the “Book a Bay” on the website in the coming days.

The range also has two state-of-the-art Trackman4 Studios one of which can be used indoor or outdoor are used by the four resident professionals for teaching and club fitting as well as private bay rental for golfers.

“I feel that people just can’t wait to get back golfing,” Donal added. “They just want to get out of the house, get out of the rut and get back to some sort of normality. The technology gives a golfer an option they have never had on a range before.“

Ballyneety has become a fantastic golf complex over the years with the 18 hole golf course, the hub, a walking track and an astroturf pitch.

The advent of the upgrade to the driving ranges makes Ballyneety one of the best facilities in the Mid-West region.
