Royal Dublin’s Max Kennedy birdied all four par threes as he fired a four-under 67 on his return from the University of Louisville to win the gross in the TaylorMade Winter Series at Portmarnock Links.

Playing off plus 5.4, he was the only player to break par, going out in two-under-par as he birdied the short third and ninth with another birdie at the fourth cancelled out by a lone bogey at the fifth.

He came home in similar fashion picking up birdies at the par-three 11th and 17th with a bogey at the 14th cancelled out by a birdie at the 16th.

He won the gross by four shots from Clontarf’s Eamonn Brady, who mixed bogeys at the sixth and eighth with birdies at the third and the par-five 13th for his level par 71.

Fortwilliam professional Chris Crangle was third in the gross with a 73 as he was left to rue bogeys at his last two holes.

Portmarnock Links Karl Pierce won the nett with a 70.

Playing off 12 on the day, the 9.4 handicapper kept a double-bogey off his card as he went out in seven-over before coming home in four-over.

The Golf Ireland Academy’s Niall McGlynn was second in the nett with a 71 with his only dropped shot of the day at the third cancelled out by a birdie on the 14th hole.

The K Club’s Liam Grehan took the third nett with a 72 as he bogeyed the fifth, then came home in level par by following a double-bogey at the 10th with birdies at the 11th and 18th
