Wilson pips Murphy for Leinster Under 14 title at Ashbourne

Massereene’s Michael Wilson captured the Leinster Boys Under 14 Amateur Open when he edged out Douglas’ Jack Murphy on the break of a tie at Ashbourne.

The pair shot one-over-par rounds of 72 to finish one stroke ahead of Warrenpoint’s Harry McArdle, Enniscorthy’s Sean Cooper and Belvoir Park’s Evan Hogg.

However, the first prize was for Wilson, who birdied the 18th to come home in one-over 36 to Murphy’s 37.

Last year's U13 category winner, Warrenpoint’s Harry McArdle, finished in third place with a score of 73.

The Under 13 category prize went to Seapoint’s Adam Fahey with a score of 74..
