McKibbin leads Irish posse in Brabazon chase at Sherwood Forest

Holywood’s Tom McKibbin leads the Irish challenge in the Brabazon Trophy but he’s five shots adrift of leaders Christoffer Bring of Denmark and England’s Enrique Dimayuga heading into the final round at Sherwood Forest Golf Club in Nottinghamshire.
The Co Down talent made five birdies in a two-under 69 to share ninth place on six-under-par as Bring shot 65 and Dimayuga a 66 to lead by a shot on 11-under from Hallowes’ Sam Bairstow.
Kilkenny’s Mark Power, who was a shot off the lead at halfway, bogeyed his last two holes for a two-over 73 that leaves him tied 12th, six shots off the pace on five-under.
Hugh Foley is just inside the top 20 on four-under after a 72 with Matthew McClean (72) two-under and Marc Boucher (73) two-over.
Meanwhile, the R&A confirmed on Thursday that Amateur champion James Sugrue has officially withdrawn from his title defence at Royal Birkdale.
The Mallow star has decided to followed the GUI’s recommendation that players from the Republic of Ireland heed government advice asking citizens to avoid non-essential travel to countries that are not on the green list, such as the UK.
