Leona Maguire cruises to Flogas Irish Scratch Series win at Seapoint

LPGA Tour star Leona Maguire carded a five-under 67 to claim the top prize in the second Flogas sponsored Irish Scratch Series event at Seapoint.

The Slieve Russell touring professional, who heads to the US on Sunday to resume her LPGA Tour career, claimed the best gross by three strokes from Boys international Max Kennedy from Royal Dublin, recording a new course record for the composite course used by the women in action.

Professional John Ross Galbraith shot one-under 71 to claim the third gross after a countback from fellow pros   Conor O’Rourke and Dermot McElroy and US collegiate stars Olivia Mehaffey (ASU) and Lauren Walsh (Wake Forest).

The first nett prize went to Sean McAufield, whose gross 75 gave him a superb 70 and the best nett by two strokes from Lucas McKeen, who also shot 75 for a nett 72.

European Tour professionals Jonny Caldwell (73) and Michael Hoey (76) also teed it up, as did former European Tour player and Flogas ambassador Gary Murphy (77).

Next outing: Monday, 13 July, Palmer South, formerly the Smurfit Course at The K Club. Entries are open. Early booking is advisable to avoid disappointment.
