Michael Hoey and Gary Murphy set for Flogas Irish Scratch Series

Five-time European Tour winner Michael Hoey is the latest big name to sign up for Monday’s Flogas sponsored Irish Scratch Series at Seapoint Golf Links.

The former Amateur champion (41) will tee off in the series’ second outing of the season at 11.24 am while internationals Lauren Walsh and Paula Grant and professionals Stephen Grant and Gary Murphy have also signed up. (See week one results)

LPGA star Leona Maguire, Arizona State’s Olivia Mehaffey and professionals Paul McBride, John Ross Galbraith, Dermot McElroy, Stuart Grehan, Jonny Yates and Conor O’Rourke also return for the second week seeking competitive practice as they prepare to resume tour life.

The Irish Scratch Series events will take place every Monday and the plan is to move the event to different golf clubs around the country over the coming weeks. 

It’s open to male and female professionals and amateurs (max handicap 9 for ladies; 6 for men), and players will compete for a total prize fund of around €1,000 each week with both gross and nett prizes awarded.

Professionals will only be eligible to win the gross prizes.

Entry fee is €50 for amateurs and €40 for professionals and must be paid by card only on check-in at the pro’s shop.

Next outing: Monday, 13 July, Palmer South, formerly the Smurfit Course at The K Club. Entries are open. Early booking is advisable to avoid disappointment.
