Higgins off to winning start in Munster PGA Winter Series
David Higgins shot a three-under par 69 to win his opening outing of the season in the Munster PGA Winter Series at Cork Golf Club.
The Waterville man’s only dropped shot came with a three-putt at the 16th but he made amends with four birdies, picking up shots at the third, fifth and 11th before hitting a nine-iron to three feet at the 18th to claim first place.
He won by one point from Ballyneety’s David Barry who birdied the second and third, bogeyed the fourth but then birdied the fifth before parring his way home.
Castletroy’s Jack Ryan started with a double bogey but made four birdies and two bogeys to finish third with 36 points
