Holywood’s Tom McKibbin opened with a five-over 77 in his defence of the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley where a limited attendance policy has been put in place for the second round due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Only players, family, and essential personnel will be able to attend. Health screenings based on information from the CDC were given to all participants in the tournament as well as their families and event personnel.

The 54-hole Junior Invitational, which takes place at Sage Valley Country Club near Augusta, features 54 of the top-ranked junior boy players from around the world

However, McKibbin is tied for 43rd, ten stokes behind American Michael Thorbjornsen, who shot a five-under 67 to lead by a shot from compatriot Luke Potter.
