Conroy denies Hill at R&A Student Series in Portugal

Maynooth University’s Paul Conroy birdied the 18th to pip teammate Allan Hill by a shot and win the R&A Student Series - Portugal event at Troia Golf.

The Enniscorthy golfer carded a level-par 72 to match Hill and win on one-under-par as Alan Fahy shot a best-of-the-day 67 and David Kitt a 69 to tie for third on one-over.

South of Ireland champion Sean Desmond from UCC was joint eight-over after a 78.

In the women’s event, Stirling’s Louise Duncan who by a whopping 12 strokes from teammate Penelope Brown on four-under 212 with UCC’s Rachel Thompson the best of the Irish on 232.
