Royal Dublin’s Kevin Knightly overcame blustery conditions to win the first Hilary Golf Society outing of the 2020 season at Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links.

He carded a five-over 76 off three to win by two strokes from Beech Park’s John Keogh, who edged out three other players for second place thanks to his superior back nine score.

Knightly and Keogh were joined on the winning team by Cael Sullivan (Forrest Little) and David Keenan (Ashbourne) with a score of 66.

Dundalk’s Mark Gorham returned a fine 81 to collect the gross prize.

The second outing in the series takes place on Sunday February 16 in Seapoint GC.

Tee times are from 0930 to 11.00am
