Robert Moran carded a one-over 73 in the third round of the fog-delayed Portuguese International Amateur Open to slip nine shots of the pace heading into the final round at Montado Hotel and Golf Resort.

The Dubliner admitted he was far from his best and felt he did well to limit the damage to just one-over and end the day tied for 29th on five-under.

Portugal's Pedro Lencart Silva shot 65 and Spain's Eduard Rousaud a 66 to lead by a shot from England’s Harry Goddard, Stan Kraai from The Netherlands and Norway’s Herman Wibe Sekne on 14-under

Waterford’s Eanna Griffin played well but failed his scoring game, carding a 72 to make the 54-hole cut for the top-40 and ties on the mark at four-under.

The morning fog delay forced organisers to cut the field before the third round with only those on three-over or better getting to play to facilitate a 72-hole completion on Saturday.

Paul Coughlan joined Moran and Griffin in round three but Rory Williamson, Aaron Marshall, Jack McDonnell and Michael Young were took far back overnight and eliminated.

While Coughlan played well, carding a two-under 70, he missed the 54-hole cut by four strokes on level par.
