Top 20 for Grant as Nobilio wins Portuguese Ladies Amateur by eight

Italy’s Alessia Nobilio cruised to an impressive eight-stroke win in the 90th Portuguese International Ladies Amateur Championship, Montado Hotel & Golf Resort.

The world No 4 closed with a four-under 68 to win on 15-under par from Spain’s Carolina López-Chacarra with Denmark’s Smilla Tarning Sønderby and Spain’s Carla Tejedo third for third on six-under.

Lisburn’s Paula Grant tied for 19th on three-over thanks to a final round 71. The former Curtis Cup star went out in four-under 32 but dropped three strokes in the last five holes.

Kirkistown Castle’s Beth Coulter, the reigning Irish Girls Close champion, made six birdies in a level par 72 to tie for 32nd on eight-over.

She started on the back nine and turned in three-under before following a bogey at the first and back-to-back double-bogeys at the fourth and fifth with a closing birdie three.

Clandeboye’s Jessica Ross and Hermitage’s Kate Lanigan missed the 54-hole cut.
