Enniscorthy's Paul Conroy made five birdies in a one-under 71 to cruise to a three-stroke win in the Munster Boys Amateur Open at Waterford Castle Golf Resort.

The Wexford talent led by two-strokes from Royal Dublin's Max Kennedy on six-under-par overnight before extending his advantage to three shots with birdies at the fifth, eighth and ninth in an outward 33.

A bogey on the 12th was followed by a birdie, but while a triple bogey on the par three 16th could have derailed the Enniscorthy man, he recovered with a birdie on the 17th, coming home in 38 to win on seven-under 209.

Kennedy could not make any in-roads in Conroy's lead on the back nine and signed for a 72 to finish second on four-under with Elm Park's Ronan Cowhey third on one-under after a 70.

Royal Dublin's Sean Downes was fourth on level par after a 74 with Limerick's Patrick Naughton edging out Dun Laoghaire's Luka Keyes for the Under 17 trophy by a shot as he tied for fifth with Lahinch's Jonathan Keane on one-over.
