Leona on track; Lisa lurking at LET Q-School pre-qualifier

Leona Maguire

Leona Maguire eagled the par-five 18th to remain on track to qualify for the Final Stage of the Ladies European Tour Qualifying School in Morocco.

The Slieve Russell ambassador (24) fired an error-free, four under 68 to sit alone in second place on 12-under par heading into today's final round of the 72-hole Lalla Aicha Tour School Pre-Qualifier at Amelkis Golf Club in Marrakesh.

She's seven strokes adrift of Sweden's Linnea Strom, who made 11 birdies in a 10-under 62 to lead on 19-under par in the race to make the top 38 and ties who will advance to the 90-hole Final Stage at the same venue from December 16-20.

Leona's twin sister Lisa has work to do to make the Final Stage after a one-under 71 left her tied for 39th on four-over par, one stroke outside the qualifying spots.

India’s Diksha Dagar, who won the World Deaf Championship at Carton House this summer, is tied for fourth on 10-under following a third round 64.

Scores

Leona, who was second in the 2015 Ladies European Masters at The Buckinghamshire as an amateur, finished tied 18th on her professional LET debut in the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de España two weeks ago.

She has full status on the second tier Symetra Tour in the US and hopes to mix appearances on that circuit with LPGA Tour invitations and the occasional appearances in Europe.
