Ireland battling for minor places at European Amateur Team Championships

Ireland will face Norway in the playoff for seventh and eighth place at the European Amateur Team Championships in Austria.

They lost 3-2 to France on Friday (Scores) with Colm Campbell and Robin Dawson in foursomes and Conor O'Rourke in singles the only winners).

England thrashed Italy (quarterfinal winners over Ireland) 6.5-1.5 and now meet Spain (4-3 winners over Sweden) in the final at Diamond Country Club.

In the European Ladies' Team Championships in Portugal, Ireland beat the Czech Republic 3.5-1.5 (Scores) and now take on France in the playoff for eighth and ninth place (Scores) as Italy meet England for the title at Montado.

Ireland's Boys team beat Germany 3-2 at La Manga's South Course in Spain (Scores) with a foursomes win for Cameron Raymond and Robert Moran and singles victories for Jack Hearn and Mark Power and now face France for fifth and sixth place (Scores) on their return to Division One this year.

Hosts Spain take on Denmark for the title with Italy and Sweden fighting it out for third and fourth.

In the European Girls' Team Championship in Finland,  Ireland beat Slovenia 3-2 in Flight B (Scores) with a foursomes win for Rachel Thompson and Valerie Clancy and single wins for Annabel Wilson and Mairead Martin and now take on Finland for ninth and 10th place (Scores). 

Sweden face Italy in the final (Scores) with France and England fighting it out for third.
