Ireland failed to make the top flight in the European Ladies' Amateur Team Championship in Portugal.

They finished tenth in the team standings on four-over par (724), three strokes outside the top eight at Montado Golf Resort.

Sweden topped the qualifiers from Italy, Spain, England, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands as Scotland missed out by two shots.

Irish Close champion Paula Grant was the best of the Irish, finishing tied for 14th on four-under after rounds of 71 and 69 with Olivia Mehaffey (72-70) two shots further back.

Ireland will now face Slovakia in Flight B.
