Graeme McDowell hits his approach stone dead at the 10th

Graeme McDowell had a familiar look on his face at Colonial Country Club on Friday as he ground out a level-par 70 to remain in the hunt in the DEAN & DELUCA Invitational.

Three over to the turn, McDowell birdied the 10th and 11th, then got up and down from sand at the 13th, giving full reign to his usual repertoire of ticks and one-fingered faces scratches as he walked off the green.

When he rolled in a ten footer for birdie at the 14th to get back to level for the day, he gave a fist pump of satisfaction, knowing he was right back in the tournament.

At four-under par, McDowell is alone in ninth, just two shots behind Webb Simpson (66), Kevin Kisner (67), Danny Lee (64) and Scott Piercy (66), who lead by one on six-under-par from Sergio Garcia (66), Jon Rahm (69) and Sean O'Hair (68).

It was a tale of two halves for McDowell, who three-putted the third for a double bogey and the sixth for bogey before following a birdie at the seventh with another dropped shot at the eighth, where he was bunkered greenside.
