The Island's Fergal Kennedy and Balbriggan's Robbie Cannon shot level par 70s to take a one-shot lead into the final round of the weather-reduced Connacht Mid-Amateur Championship at Athenry.

After a day marked by a rain delay and flooding, the over 30s event was reduced from 54 to 36 holes with Cannon and Kennedy one ahead of Galway Bay's Eddie McCormack and Dermot Glynn and Castlebar's Kenneth Irwin with just one round to go

Both Kennedy and former South of Ireland and Irish Amateur Open champion Cannon had three birdies and three bogeys in their 70s.

Pat Murray is five shots back after a 75 with former South of Ireland champion John Greene a further shot behind.
