Sweden’s Ingrid Lindblad shot 72 and Wales’ Lea-Anne Bramwell a 70 to leave them two clear of Scotland’s Jillian Farrell heading into Sunday’s final round of the Irish Girls’ Open Stroke Play Championship at Roganstown Hotel Golf and Country Club.

The second round got underway after a frost delay but overnight leaders Annabel Wilson (Lurgan) and Valerie Clancy (Killarney) never warmed up and slipped back in round two.

Clancy carded double bogeys at the eighth and 16th and signed for a six-over 77 to leave her tied for fourth with Sweden’s Elsa Svensson, England’s Euphemie Rhodes and Danielle Modder of the Netherlands, three off the lead on four-over par.

Wilson birdied the par-five fifth to get to three under for the tournament but double bogeys at the seventh and ninth meant she slipped down the leaderboard, finishing the day five off the lead in a tie for 11th.

Up and coming star Beth Coulter from Kirkistown Castle is just four shots off the lead in joint eighth after shooting 70.

“I bogeyed my first two holes so that wasn’t a great start but I managed to get it back to one-under after 11 and par my way in from there which was nice,” the 13-year-old explained.
