Ballymena's Dermot McElroy closed with a 69 to finish tied for second in the PGA EuroPro Tour Q-School at Frilford Heath and earn Category 3 membership for 2017.

The former West of Ireland champion finished tied with James Frazer and Will Enefer on eight-under-par, two shots behind Scotland's Jamie McLeary.

Brian Casey (T19) and Stephen Grant (T24) also earned Category 3 cards for finishing in the top 30 while Gavin Moynihan (T33), Brian McElhinney (T40) and Reeve Whitson (T52) got Category 6 and David Carey (T72) and Joe Dillon (T95) Category 10 cards.

The other 14 Irish players who teed it up at the Final Stage earned Category 14 cards.

The 2017 PGA EuroPro Tour season gets underway with The Lookers Championship at Close House from April 26-28.
