Turner in the pack in Japan; Irish cut on Sunshine Tour

Asian Tour — Muskerry's Niall Turner fired a one-under-par 70 to make the cut in the US$1.37 million Panasonic OPEN Japan+

The former Irish Close runner up, 33, made two birdies and a bogey at Chiba Country Club's  Umesato Course to share 46th on level par 142.

He's nine strokes behind American Jason Knutzon, whose 69 gave him a two-shot lead over Juvic Pagunsan of the Phillippines, South Korea's Inhoi Hur, Thailand's Panuphol Pittayarat and Japan's Yujiro Ohori on nine-under par.

O'Donovan and O Briain cut in South Africa

Sunshine Tour - Lucan's Richie O'Donovan and Old Conna's Neil O Briain missed the one-over-par cut in the Zimbabwe Open at Royal Harare Golf Club.

O'Donovan shot rounds of 75 and 74 to miss out by four shots on 149 while O Briain, who recently came through the Sunshine Tour Q-School and plans to warm up for events such as the BMW PGA in the southern hemisphere, finished a shot further back after rounds of 72 and 78.

South Africa's Trevor Fisher Jnr leads by four shots on 14 under par from Jean Hugo.
