Kilkenny’s Mark Power will defend the Peter McEvoy Trophy at Copt Heath next month.

The Irish Boys champion from Kilkenny, called up the Irish senior squad after a superb 2016 season, has been selected for the return trip with Rosslare’s John Brady, Carton House's Jack Doherty, Castle’s Robert Moran, Newlands' Cameron Raymond and Hilton Templepatrick’s Reece Black.

The Peter McEvoy Trophy is one of the most valued prizes in boys’ golf and former champions include Justin Rose and Lee Westwood as well as Ireland’s two-time former Walker Cup star, Gavin Moynihan.

Last year, Power closed with a round of 68 to claim a two-shot victory in the gruelling, 72-hole strokeplay event.

Brady also made it through to the final day, finishing inside the top 40.
