Elm Park’s Charlie Denvir cruised to a wire-to-wire, eight-stroke win in the Connacht U18 Boys Open at Galway Bay Golf Resort.

The Dubliner closed with a best of the day, four-under-par 68 to win on 11-under par 205 from Lisburn’s Aaron Marshall (69) and The Royal Dublin’s Max Kennedy (72).

A member of the Irish Under 18 panel, Denvir opened with a five-under-par 67 to lead by three strokes, then added a two-under-par 70 to extend his lead to four strokes over Kennedy, Lisburn’s Kyle Patton and Connemara’s Luke O’Neill.

He needed just nine holes to build up an unassailable lead on the final day, making four birdies and a bogey in an outward 33 before following a pair of bogeys at the 11th and 14th with three birdies in the last five holes.
