Niall Kearney showed true grit when he fired a five under par 67 to make the cut and keep his Asian Tour card hopes alive in Thailand.

The 28-year old from Royal Dublin was under pressure to make the top 100 and ties to make the cut after a one under par 71 left him tied 122nd after the opening round at Suvarnabhumi Golf & Country Club in Bangkok.

But he shot up the leaderboard to tied 48th on six under as he made five birdies in an immaculate second round.

He’s just two shots outside the all important top 35 and ties who will win cards and nine adrift of Japan’s Junya Kameshiro and Australians Richard Green and Todd Sinnot, who struck up an unlikely partnerships with his local Thai caddy.

“She doesn’t speak much English and I don’t speak any Thai but we are always laughing and joking and trying to stay as relaxed as possible,” said Sinnot after a flawless seven-under-par 65 left him on 15 under par.

"Body language is a big thing as we are trying really hard to understand what each of us is saying. It’s quite funny.”

Despite their language barrier, Sinnot went on a birdie blitz with seven birdies including five in his inward-nine and has remarkably only dropped one shot in two rounds.
