Round up: Casey and Hopkins survive; Kearney seventh; Alps black out

Challenge Tour — Brian Casey shot a one over 72 but made the cut by two shots in the Made in Denmark Challenge at Aalborg Golf Club.

The Headfort golfer is tied for 38th on one under par, 10 shots behind leader Aaron Rai of England who added a three under par 68 to his opening 65 to lead by one from American John Hahn and compatriot Jack Senior.

Royal Dublin's Jeff Hopkins made the cut on the one over par limit as he made five birdies in a level par 71. 

But Gary Hurley missed out by two strokes on three over despite a fine second round 70.

Rai, 21, narrowly missed out on a spot at The Open Championship after losing a play-off to Robert Rock in Final Qualifying at Woburn on Tuesday.

Kearney seventh  at Longhirst Hall

Europro Tour — Niall Kearney was seventh as Matthew Cort won the Dawson and Sanderson Classic by two shots at Longhirst Hall Golf Club, seeing off the challenge of Greg Payne with a final round 70 to take the title.
Kearney closed with a one under 71 to finish on three under and earn £1250 as Cort won by two shots on eight under par.
Tim Rice (73) tied for 29th with Simon Bryan (74) tied 38th.

Irish cut in Veneto

Alps Tour — David Carey and Tommy O’Driscoll missed the cut in the Open Frassanelle, an hour west of Venice.

Carey fired a four under 67 in round two but missed the cut by two stroke on one over 143 while O’Driscoll missed out eight after rounds of 73 and 76.

England’s Matt Wallace leads by one on 11 under par from Corrado de Stefani after rounds of 66 and 65.
