England's Bradley Moore joined Rory McIlroy on the illustrious list of winners when he shrugged off a final round 74 to win the Irish Boys Amateur Open by two strokes at Thurles.

Leading by three strokes overnight from compatriot Laird Shepherd, Moore saw Jack Davidson surge through the pack, posting a find round 68 to set the target at one under 287.

Moore was three over for the day and just two under for the championship with four holes to play.

But birdies at the 15th and 17th gave him some breathing space and he could afford to bogey the last and still win by two strokes on three under par from Davidson, Shepherd (73) and Antoin Auboin of France. who closed with a 71.

Laytown and Bettystown's Thomas Mulligan carded a 72 to lead the Irish contingent in joint seventh place on one over 289.

Ring of Kerry's Tommy O'Driscoll (73) was ninth on two over with Westport's Jack Healy (71), Bushfoot's Owen Crooks (72) and Tralee's Rory Hill (75) tied for 10th on four over.

Shepherd was the winner of the Under 17 Trophy with Auboin taking the silverware for the Under 16s.
