An eagle three at the 15th gave him a share of the lead but his bogey at the last cost him dear as he finished a shot behind on 12 under par.

He still pocketed £2,000 and Category 3 membership of the Europro Tour for 2014 while Banbridge's Richard Kilaptrick also secured Category 3 status as a 70 left him tied for third with Tom Whitehouse and Luke Joy on 11 under.

Stephen Grant, now playing out of The Heritage was joint 22nd on five under after a 71 and also clinched Category 3 status for the top 30 at the final stage.

Aaron Kearney's 72 for joint 39th on three under gave him Category 6 status while the Irishmen who missed the cut - Matt McAlpin, Noel Quinn and Ricky Weldon were awarded Category 14 status.
