Irish 1-2 at Frilford Heath - Murphy leads Kilpatrick at Europro Q-School

Waterville's Mark Murphy fired a superb, six under 66 to take a one shot lead over Banbridge's Richard Kilpatrick into the final round of the PGA Europro Tour's Qualifying School Final Stage in England.

The Kerryman have seven birdies and just one bogey on the Red Course at Frilford Heath in Oxfordshire to get to 10 under par as Kilpatrick matched his six under effort on the same track with four birdies in a row from the 14th to sit alone in second place.

Stephen Grant of The Heritage shot a one under 71 (Red) to share 22nd on four under as Castlerock's Aaron Kearney (Bue), now playing out of West Middlesex Golf Club, also posted a 71 to lie joint 27th on three under.

The cut for the top 80 and ties fell at level par 144 which meant and early exit for Noel Quinn, Ricky Weldon and Matt McAlpin.

Those who have missed the cut obtain a category 14 card for the 2014 season while the survivors will battle it out to gain the best possible category and their share of a £16,000 Qualifying School prize fund.
