Tullamore's Stuart Grehan and Stackstown's Richard Bridges are through to Friday's second round of the Argentinian Amateur Open Championship FiberCorp at Highland Park Golf & Country Club in Buenos Aires.

The Irish duo qualified for the matchplay stage with ease, finishing tied for 24th on three over 147 — Grehan shot rounds of 75 and 72 with Bridges following his opening 69 with an untidy 78.

In the first matchplay round, Grehan had to go to the 20th to see off Juan Manuel Garcia Mas while Bridges, who is on the opposite side of the draw, had a one up win over Joaquin de Aduriz.

Leading qualifier Corey Conners of Canada, winner of the Copa Tailhade last week with partner Austin Connelly, received a bye in the second round.

Grehan will now face Argentinian star Alejandro Tosti, ninth in qualifying, with Bridges taking on Nicolaas Arnoldi from South Africa.
