Gareth Shaw made a spirited fightback from a slow start but still shot a 73 to slide nine strokes behind leader Carlos Rodiles entering the final round of he Challenge Tour's Kärnten Golf Open presented by Markus Brier Foundation in Austria.
The Lurgan man bogeyed the first, double bogeyed the par-five second and dropped another shot at the fourth in tough conditions at Golfclub Klagenfurt-Seltenheim.
The Ulsterman played the remaining holes in three under par but slipped from 11th to tied 24th on six under par as Spain's Carlos Rodiles followed a pair of 65s with one under par 71 on a day when a 90 minute weather delay due to a lightning storm, coupled with gusting winds made conditions markedly more difficult than the first two rounds.
Rodiles leads by a shot on 15-under from the exciting young German Florian Fritsch with Edoardo Molinari just one stroke further back after a brilliant six under par 66 in the toughest conditions of the day.
Tournament host Markus Brier and England's Adam Gee are lurking with intent on 12 under.
