Lowry and Morgan in West of Ireland final

Irish champion Shane Lowry will face Mullingar's Dessie Morgan in the final of the West of Ireland Championship at Rosses Point.

The Esker Hills man beat Galway's Eddie McCormack 5 and 4 as Morgan survived a Paul O'Hanlon comeback to win 3 and 2 on a sun-kissed morning at County Sligo.

Lowry birdied three of the first five holes and was four up at the turn before a winning birdie at the par-five 12th put him in an unassailable position.

Morgan, 27, birdied the first, second and fifth and took the sixth with a par to go four up before O'Hanlon fought back.

The Newbridge man was conceded wins at the eighth and 10th before getting back to one down with a winning par at the 11th.

However, the next two holes proved crucial with both men agreeing to a half at the par-five 12th when they faced five putt putts for par.

At the par-three 13th, O'Hanlon fired his tee shot to just four feet but three-putted to go two down again and never got back into the match.

The final takes place at 1.30.
