Dubliner Niall Kearney fired a four under par 68 to move up to tied fourth entering the final round of the first stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School in Thailand.

The former Walker Cup player, 23, is tied for seventh place on four under par in his stage one qualifier at Royal Springfield Country Club in Thailand.

The Dubliner, 23, finished the opening day tied for 16th place at Springfield Royal Country Club, one of four qualifying venues for next week’s final stage.
The top 20 percent from each venue will progress to will qualify for next week’s Final Stage, where the top-40 and ties will earn playing rights on the 2012 Asian Tour.

Waterville’s David Higgins and Limerick’s Cian McNamara qualified with a shot to spare at Las Colinas Golf and Country Club in Alicante while Ballymena’s Chris Devlin fired a brilliant, four under 67 to finish two shots inside the mark at El Valle in Murcia.
