Meadow opens with 69 in Arkansas

Jordanstown's Stephanie Meadow gave her chances of qualifying for the Olympics a boost when she opened with a  two under 69 in the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.

The Royal Portrush Ladies star fell out of the Top 60 in the Olympic Rankings and needs a Top 20 finish over the last three weeks of the campaign to secure her place in the Irish team for Rio.

She's got work to do, however, as she's just inside the projected cut mark in tied 52nd, seven shots behind Ayako Uehara of Japan whose nine under 62 left her two ahead of the field.
