Hossler wins Jones Cup Invitational, McBride well back

Texan Beau Hossler closed with a 70 to win the Jones Cup Invitational by six shots on two under par from North Augusta's Matthew NeSmith and Canada's Blair Hamilton

Hossler was was the only man in the field to break par and scoring was so tough at Ocean Forest Golf Club at Sea Island that top international Paul McBride finished 78th on 28 over.

If the organisers wanted to identify the best player, they may well have achieved their goal. But with scores soaring into the 80s, one wonders if the players had any fun at all.

The win gave Hossler a sponsor's exemption for the PGA Tour's RSM Classic, which is played at Sea Island in November.
