Munster will be going for their third title in four years when they take on Leinster's young guns for the Interprovincial Championship at Rosapenna's spectacular Sandy Hills Links on Wednesday.

The majestic dunes of the northwest Donegal resort will form a magnificent backdrop to a championship that has afforded some new blood the chance to show the Irish selectors what they can do.

Holders Munster were given food for thought in the afternoon singles against Ulster but they proved too strong in the end, edging the mano a mano combats 4-3 for a 6.5-4.5 victory.

While John Hickey beat John-Ross Galbraith and Dave O'Donovan saw off William Hanna, a 5 and 4 defeat for Pat Murray by an excellent Colm Campbell heralded some Ulster resistance.

Robin Dawson beat Gareth Lappin 3 and 2 however and Eanna Griffin defeated Colin Fairweather 8 and 6. Then Geoff Lenehan eventually came though a tough battle to see off Tiarnan McLarnon on the 18th as Ian O’Rourke edged out Jordan Hood 2

Leinster, who have a host of young players in their ranks this year, beat Connacht 7.5-3.5 with Alan Lowry, Rowan Lester, Thomas Mulligan and Paul McBride unbeaten on day two.

Leading by a point after the singles, the boys in blue were clinical in the singles though the short game magic of Ronan Mullarney helped him beat Kevin LeBlanc 2 and 1 as veteran Joe Lyons chipped in at the last to snatch a half with Rowan Lester.

In an added bit of spice for the final day, both Munster and Leinster have players with 100 percent records - Eanna Griffin for the Munster men and The Island's Paul McBride for Leinster.
