Three birdies in his last seven holes helped Knock's Simon Miskelly fire a level par 71 to take a one stroke lead into the final round of the Leinster Mid Amateur Championship at a rain-lashed Grange.

The Ulsterman improved on his morning 72 to lead on one over 143 from Greystones' Alan Condren (73-71) and by two from the inaugural Irish Mid-Amateur champion Gary O'Flaherty from Cork, whose second round 70 was the only sub-par score of the day.

Rory McIlroy's uncle Colm made the 159 cut with two shots to spare but Pádraig Harrington's brother Fergal missed out by four.
