South Dublin is a hotbed of rugby talent but whether they hailed from Terenure College, St Mary's, De La Salle Churchtown or Wanderers, there's no doubt that the will be right behind Castle and new sponsors Cpl Resources when the Rathfarnham club stages the All Ireland Father & Son Foursomes for the 54th time in July.
Former Irish internationals and Castle members Niall Hogan, Jimmy Kelly, Des Fitzgerald, Vinny Cunningham, Ciaran Clarke, Kevin Flynn and Frank Ennis — picture at Castle when celebrating Irelands Six Nations victory — were some fo the first to hear of Castle's new sponsorship agreement with Cpl Resources Plc for the hugely popular event.
Qualifying — 18-holes strokes — will take place on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th July. The cost of entry is €70 per pair.
It is expected that this year’s qualifying events will attract more than 500 entrants representing over 100 different clubs. Just 64 pairs will qualify for the match-play stages of the event, which will run from Monday 7th July until the Final on Sunday 13th July.
Last year’s winners were Michael & Stephen Finlan of Blessington Lakes and Dunmurry Springs. The 2013 event was a huge success with competitors experiencing the tremendous Castle welcome that is enjoyed throughout the week by all participants.
