West Waterford's Gary Hurley is five shots off the lead at the halfway stage of the European Nations Cup at Sotogrande.

He added a one over 73 to his opening 74 to share 11th place on three over as Spain's Mario Galiano shot 67 and Scotland's Neil Bradley a 71 to lead on four under, two clear of England's Ryan Evans (70).

Naas' Jack Hume (76) is the next best of the Irish in joint 26th on five over 149 with Dermot McElroy (74) and Cormac Sharvin (79) in 43rd on nine over.

In the team competition, Italy leads by four strokes on 432 from Spain with Ireland seventh on 144.

In the women's competition, England's Annabel Dimmock is three ahead in the individual standings on three under 141 with her team two clear of Spain on 291.
