Dunbar now preparing for Q-School

Alan Dunbar druing the Alstom Open de France, at Le Golf National, Versailles, Paris, France. Picture: David Lloyd/www.golffile.ieAlan Dunbar is just €100 outside the Top 100 in the Challenge Tour rankings after a costly two over 72 in the final round of the Open Blue Green Côtes d’Armor Bretagne.

The Rathmore player went into the last round as eventual winner Andrea Pavan’s nearest rival but ended up tied for fourth, six shots off the pace on five under.

As Pavan pocketed €28,800 to soar to second in the rankings behind the alreay promoted Brooks Koepka, Dunbar got €8,190 which saw him rise to 101st.

Dunbar, who is 190th in the Race to Dubai with €39,960. will not be joining Lurgan’s Gareth Shaw in this week’s Kharkov Superior Cup in the Ukraine.

Shaw was 56th in Brittany and is now 60th in the Challenge Tour rankings, nearly €9,000 outside the top 45 who will tee it up in the season-ending Dubai Festival City Challenge Tour Grand Final at Al Badia Golf Club.

There are some big events remaining on the Challenge Tour schedule but Dunbar will not be at the €400,000 Kazakhstan Open as he must tee it up in the First Stage of the European Tour Qualifying School.
