The Florida based Ballymena man, who is desperate to earn a sponsor’s invitation for the Irish Open at Carton House later this month, scraped in for the weekend on the three under par limit after a level par 72 at Golf & Spa Kunetická Hora.

“Managed to dig myself out of a hole today with 3 birdies in the last 5 after completely forgetting to play better in the first 13,” Devlin quipped on Twitter.

“Must keep the momentum going into the weekend. Early start tomorrow, time to post some better numbers.”

Galgorm Castle touring professional Gareth Shaw, another player with hopes of a place in the Irish Open field, continued his consistent start to the season with a second successive 69 leaving him six shots off the pace on six under.

Tied for 24th, Shaw had five birdies on his card with his first and only dropped shots of the week so far coming with a double bogey seven at the 11th.

Dubliner Kearney was just inside the cut mark playing his 18th having picked up four shots on his back nine to get to two under for the day.

But he bogeyed the ninth for a second successive 71 to miss the cut by one while McGeady’s four birdies in the last five were not enough as he added a 68 to his opening 75 to miss the weekend by just two strokes.

There is a five-man tie for the lead heading into the weekend as inspired performances from Englishmen Robert Dinwiddie and Adam Gee were matched by Italy’s Andrea Pavan and Spaniards Adrian Otaegui and Carlos Aguilar.

Basking in warm sunshine and almost no breeze, scoring was highly impressive once again as joint best-of-the-week rounds of 64 from both Dinwiddie and Pavan set the 12 under par target which was matched by Gee, (66), overnight co-leader Otaegui (68) and Aguilar (67).
