Leinster Golf gets strategic

Leinster Council member Aidan Marsden (Tullamore) and the Strategic Review Committee has been talking to numerous stakeholders about the work of the Leinster Branch. The Leinster Branch of the GUI has consulted with amateur and professional golfing greats as well as every club in the province to produce a bold new strategic plan to cover the next three to five years.

Celebrating its centenary this year, a committee comprising Chairman Aidan Marsden (Tullamore), John Roche (Bray), Paddy Murphy (Newlands), John McKernan (Newlands) and Teresa Thompson (Executive Officer) has been meeting with “external and internal stakeholders” to find ways of making Leinster Golf’s work even more effective.

With consultants SHRC facilitating the process, the Branch sent a survey to every golf club in the province in recent weeks, seeking the views of their members.

The response “has far exceeded expectations” and revealed some “interesting opinions” on the work it carries out as well as endorsing the work currently in progress.

The survey will close this weekend after which a draw will be made and one lucky participant will receive a prize of an overnight stay for two people and a round of golf courtesy of Carton House Hotel.
