Niall Kearney shot a secodn round 67 in Norway.Niall Kearney has a chance to make a much-needed move up the Challege Tour rankings after five under 67 left him seven off the pace at halfway stage of the Norwegian Challenge.

The Dubliner has now made two of six cuts on the Challenge Tour this season but at 165th in rankings, he needs to start raking in some cash.

The 24 year old was steady once again and, after carding a two under par first round, started the second day positively with a birdie at the 10th - his first.

Six pars were then followed by an eagle three at the par five 17th hole before he started his back nine just as he began his first, with a birdie at the first hole.

Another birdie at the fourth hole was followed by five pars on the way in and he moved to seven under for the tournament.

Meanwhile, former Ryder Cup player Oliver Wilson carded the lowest round of his professional career as the Englishman’s stunning ten under par 62 moved him into the tied lead, alongside Alvaro Velasco, going in to the weekend’s play.

Velasco, who was the overnight leader after the first day, matched his opening round of 65 to move into a two-way tie for the lead on 14 under par but it was his English compatriot who stole the show earlier in the day after a two hour rain delay at Byneset GK, near Trondheim.
