Lowrys keep it in the family

Shelia Lowry presents daughter Aoife with the Tipperary GC Lady Captain’s prize.Parting with a trophy can be tough for a defending champion but Tipperary Golf Club’s Sheila Lowry was pleased to hand over her Lady Captain’s prize to daughter Aoife recently.

According to the club P.R.O., Mary Daly: “Aoife played sparkling golf on the day, bringing in a super score of 70 net off a handicap of three.”

Aoife has represented Munster in the Ladies Interprovincial Championships for the past five years and currently the mother and daughter duo are through to play in the quarter final of the Ladies Irish Mail Foursomes Trophy.

It’s always special when a home player wins a big event but can someone from Rathmore or Royal Portrush win the North of Ireland Amateur Open this week and follow in the footsteps of Patrick McCrudden?
