Harrington gets company at Wilson

Steve Pike reports that Wilson Golf have lost the services of one golfer but signed two new boys.

Padraig Harrington now has some company on the Wilson Golf staff. The Chicago-based company has signed Ricky Barnes and Brad Adamonis to use its Staff clubs. Harrington, the reigning PGA Tour Player of the Year, re-signed with Wilson Golf on a multi-year deal this past October.

Wilson Golf did lose one high profile player this year as D.J. Trahan made the move from Wilson to the Acushnet Company's Titleist brand.

Barnes, beginning his first full season on the PGA Tour, signed a two-year contract with Wilson Golf. He'll play Wilson's prototype Fg62 irons, 56- and 60-degree Tw9 wedges as well as carry a Wilson Staff bag.

The Fg62 irons, by the way, are named after the number of major championships Wilson Golf staff players have won through the years.

Adamonis, who played in 29 events on the PGA Tour last season, also will play the Fg62 irons and 56- and 60-degree wedges. He'll sport the Wilson Staff logo on his bag and the back of his cap.

Trahan, meanwhile, said his switch from Wilson to Titleist equipment was not a knock on Wilson product.

"The equipment at Wilson was fine. I switched to Titleist because of the brand because I grew up with the brand," Trahan said.

Trahan, who finished sixth the Mercedes-Benz Championship earlier this month, is playing a Titleist 905R driver, 906F4 3-wood, Titleist ZM irons, Volkey Design Spin Milled wedges (54, 60, 64), a Scotty Cameron Newport putter and Pro V1 golf ball.
