Smyth kisses title goodbye

Des Smyth kissed the The Kingdom of Bahrain Trophy goodbye with a sloppy finish at the Buckinghamshire.

Smyth eagled the second but bogeyed the 16th and 17th for a level par 72 that left him nine shots behind leader Adan Sowa on one over par.

Tied for 19th with one round to play, Smyth has now set his sights on a top ten finish in his last event of the 2007 season.

Smyth said: "I didn’t play well today. I got off to a great start with the eagle and had lots of opportunities, but I didn’t take them, and to finish like I did was poor."

Denis O’Sullivan and Eamonn Darcy shot 77 and 80 respectively to finish on four over and 13 over.
